Q&A: Does losing weight actually make people feel better?

Question: Does losing weight actually make people feel better?

Answer: For this question, I will answer personally and say yes, losing weight absolutely has made me feel better. I love feeling lighter, fitting into old clothes again and finding exercise and everyday things so much easier. I love going to the beach and not being embarrassed anymore, instead just enjoying the experience of jumping in the ocean. If I'm being honest, there probably is a little bit of a vanity/ego element as well, where it feels so much nicer to feel proud, or at least not ashamed, of my appearance again.

Does losing weight actually make people feel better? For me yes, at least when I learnt how to lose weight without extreme diets or punishing workouts.
Hard to believe I was carrying about 25kg extra in this photo compared to now

However, there is a big disclaimer for me. Previously, I lost weight through really restrictive diets and intense workout regimes. I lost the weight through sheer willpower and determination. Needless to say, it wasn't fun and the weight loss didn't last when I inevitably ran out of willpower. But now I have learnt how to lose weight through healthy sustainable habits, which means I feel so much happier and more relaxed knowing that I don't have to worry about all the weight coming back on.

So to summarise, for me yes losing weight has made me feel better, but what makes me feel even better is not having to stress about restricting foods and punishing workouts anymore.
