How to Stop Eating So Much: One Simple Trick to Reclaim Control & Lose Weight

Learning how to stop eating so much has made weight loss easy. Plus it's amazing to be able to eat things like pizza without stressing about overeating!

We’ve all been there.

Sitting on the couch in front of the TV with a bag of chips.

You promise yourself just to have a few.

But in no time the packet is empty and you feel completely stuffed.

Most experts would tell you not to eat the chips in the first place. But research shows that trying to restrict foods is actually more likely to put on weight!

So instead of restricting foods, there is one simple but effective trick to know how to stop eating so much and instantly start losing weight without any restrictions.

Let me explain.

How to stop eating so much without restricting yourself

Have you ever struggled to stop eating too many carrots?

Or maybe you have overindulged in apples?

I’m sure like me, and everyone else, you instead struggle most of the time with “naughty” treat foods. And it’s not surprising, considering how foods are engineered to be as palatable as possible.

However, thankfully you don’t need to restrict yourself from any foods when you are trying to stop eating so much.

In fact, quite the opposite is true. Knowing the correct way to stop eating so much means including all foods. Let me explain.

(And don’t worry, this approach does lead to weight loss!)

Before I knew how to stop eating so much

I used to really struggle with overeating, never being satisfied, even when I was completely stuffed. It took me years to learn how to stop eating so much, and the answer was not at all what I expected.

This endless battle with food constantly consumed my thoughts for years, affecting my physical and mental well-being. Over time I experimented with nearly every diet out there, each promising a path to quick and lasting weight loss.

I’m actually still haunted by the memories of yoyo dieting and the restrict-binge-restrict cycle.

Perhaps you can relate to having times where you stuck to a diet for months or even years. And the initial weight loss was amazing, watching the scales go down feels like such an amazing accomplishment, particularly considering all the sacrifices that were given to force those scales down.

However, inevitably, weight loss stalls. Willpower runs out, and the temptation of restricted foods is just too great. A quick trip to the supermarket, because I wouldn’t keep “bad” foods in the house, and all my hard work was over, until the next day at least when I would start again.

Sound familiar?

How do you stop eating so much and lose weight?

Do you find yourself in a similar cycle of starting diet after diet, thinking that perhaps you just haven’t found the answer yet?

I know exactly how it feels, thinking that perhaps you just haven’t found the culprit that leads to weight gain, or found a way to cut that culprit out.

I used to think exactly the same way. Then thankfully I had my moment of revelation.

And the simplicity of the moment was both wonderful and frustrating, as I couldn’t believe how simple it was. Because once again I was eating pizza with my wife, breaking my latest diet. And the diets were becoming shorter and shorter!

Now I should say that my wife is one of the “lucky” ones who has never struggled with her weight.

But what didn’t make sense was that amongst all of my dieting and overeating, she pretty much stayed the same weight.

We were discussing just this point as I reached for my fourth slice of pizza.

She was still on her first piece…

It was the first time that we had questioned the difference between how she and I ate, rather than the difference between what she and I ate.

The solution to stop eating so much

In short, my wife used to eat a lot more slowly than me.

And that one moment led me down a long path of research and even a complete career change to now helping people like you to lose weight without dieting.

As I looked into it more and more, I found that there is so much research showing that the slower you eat, the less calories you will likely consume.

The general idea is that by eating slowly, you give your stomach a chance to catch up and let you know that it has had enough. Because perhaps you have experienced a time when you still felt hungry whilst eating, only to feel completely stuffed half an hour later?

When you eat slowly, you give your stomach a chance to register that it is full.

Also by eating slowly, you have the opportunity to really savour the flavour of your food. Studies also support the importance of really tasting your food, showing that when you eat mindfully and really savour the flavours of each mouthful, you are likely to eat less calories.

Whilst these might seem like simple habits, the research and findings don’t lie. The key is to bring a playful approach to see if eating mindfully gives you a different experience when eating your food.

All it takes is to give it a go. So grab a square of chocolate and sit down quietly to really enjoy the flavour!

Next steps

Through playful perseverance of eating more mindfully, I was able to break free from the cycle of eating so much and cultivate a healthier relationship with all food, which has led to watching the scales go down whilst I eat whatever I want!

Learning how to properly stop eating so much through mindfulness has made weight loss easy. Plus it's amazing to be able to eat things like pizza without stressing about putting on weight!
